Adonijah Carter's parents are Joseph and Dorcas (Munson) Carter.
Adonijah was born on the Capt. Joseph Carter farm in Warren, later owned by Frederick Colman and still later by Dea. Franklin Curtis. He settled at a very early day on Onion River, a few miles south and west of Plymouth. He farmed in Plymouth and he and his wife are buried in Plymouth. In the Sheboygan Journal under date of Oct.1st, 1851, the first Agricultural Fair ever held in the county.
Adonijah Carter, of Plymouth, took the second premium on three year old colts; also the second premium on the best brood mare and colt.
Adonijah and Hannah were the parents to Orra A. (Carter) Bowen, Allen Carter, Emma (Carter) Colman and Ruby Carter.
