Mrs. Muriel Carter "Toby" Armentrout, age 83, of Covington, died Saturday, September 24, 2011, at her residence. She was the wife of the late Ralph Harold Armentrout.

Mrs. Armentrout was born December 11, 1927 in Alleghany County, the daughter of the late Benjamin Phillip Carter, Sr. and Era Glover Carter. She was a lifelong member of the community and was a homemaker and devoted mother. Mrs. Armentrout was also a lifelong member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Armentrout is survived by one daughter, Loretta Lynn Armentrout of Bexley, OH; one brother, Benjamin Phillip Carter, Jr. and wife, Martha of Covington; two sisters, Nancy Carter Bookman of Hampton and Inez Carter Frye and husband, Jim of Covington; and a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews; great-great nieces and great-great nephews.

Mrs. Armentrout was preceded in death by one brother, William Floyd Carter and three sisters, Geraldine Carter Thompson, Eula Carter Thomas and Judy Carter Parker.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, September 29, 2011, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Armentrout Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 28, 2011, at any time at the residence, 4016 Jackson River Road. Friends may also call at the funeral home at any time during normal business hours.

Pallbearers will be Howard Liptrap, Jr., Darius Liptrap, Donnie Liptrap, Pete Richardson, Dennis Richardson, and Fred Albrecht, Jr. Alternate pallbearers will be Burton Thompson and B.R. Rupert. Honorary pallbearers will be Bennie Carter, Jim Frye, Burton Parker and Sherman Kincaid.
