Irene Carter Allred
OGDEN - Irene Carter Allred, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, January 7, 2011, at the age of 93.
She was born August 12, 1917, in St. George, Utah, the daughter of Ralph Thomas Carter and Adrell Hunt Carter.
She married O. Rudeen Allred on June 17, 1941 in the St. George Temple. She lived in the Ogden area for over 60 years and moved to Colorado four years ago to be with her daughter.
She was an active member of the LDS Church her entire life, having served faithfully in many callings including a full-time mission in Hawaii with her husband.
She had been employed as an administrative assistant for many years at Hill Air Force Base, and retired in 1979. While employed at HAFB she served as an editor of the Hill Top Times. She had been a member of the Toastmistress Club for several years.
Surviving are her three children; Carmen Cornils, Centennial, Colorado; Forrest (Alice) Allred, Ogden, Utah; and Gregory (Carol) Allred, Bartlesville, Oklahoma; 17 grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren. Also surviving is one brother, Howard Carter, St. George, Utah. She was preceded in death by her husband, mother and father, and four sisters.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 15, at 12 Noon at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. There will be a viewing from 10 a.m. to 10:45 am prior to the funeral service.
Interment, Washington Heights Memorial Park.
