Mary E. Betts, 93, died Friday, Oct. 8, 2010 in Overlook Hospital, Summit.

Born in Plainfield, she lived there many years before moving to Berkeley Heights several years ago.

She was employed with the Selective Services Headquarters in Trenton, retiring many years ago.

Her other employment included Muhlenberg Hospital in Plainfield, Lyons VA Hospital and Raritan Arsenal in Metuchen.

She was a former member of Calvary Baptist Church in Plainfield during her childhood and was a member of Progressive Baptist Church in Rahway for 10 years under her son in law, the late pastor Ollie Johnson.

She was predeceased by her husband, Lucellus Betts; a sister, Jean O. Walker-Boone and a brother, Frederick Carter.

Surviving are a daughter, June E. Johnson of Scotch Plains; two sons, Woodrow Wilson Frederick of Edison and Dr. William R. Frederick of Wheaton, MD; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral, Friday 11am in Calvary Baptist Church, 324 Monroe Ave., Plainfield preceded by viewing at 10am. Interment, Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains.
