Our beloved mother, sister, and aunt Bernice Bettis, 55, went to be with the Lord on May 11th, 2011 at Harrison Medical Center after a short battle with cancer.
Bernice graduated from Old Dominion University in 2004, with her Bachelor's of Science in Psychology. She worked as a mental health treatment coordinator and counselor at Kitsap Mental Health Services. She also volunteered at Purdy Correctional Facility for Women.
She was preceded in death by both parents, L.J. Carter Sr. and Ruby Beasley-Hatch and brother Robert Carter. Bernice is survived by her sons Torrey Bettis & wife Anna, Eric Bettis, sister Marilyn Nathan & Donell, and brother L.J. Carter Jr. & Carol.
