Emma Baugh 89 of Greensburg, Indiana passed away Thursday December 17, 2009 at her residence. She was born September 12, 1920 in Hartsville, Indiana the daughter of Roy & Hazel (Gillespie) Carter. She was a 4H Teenager and later was an Adult Leader of the Jackson Sparkies. She was Valedictorian and 1938 graduate of Jackson High School. She had been a member of the Decatur County Home Demonstration Club since October 1939. She had been a member of the Forest Hill Presbyterian Church for 53 years and was an Elder, a Teacher, and a Bible School Leader as well as a member of the Ladies Aid Group. She married Keith Baugh on August 20 1939 in Forest Hill, Indiana. They had lived on a farm for over 40 years before moving to Greensburg and loved every minute of it. After moving to Greensburg in 1979 she attended the First Church of God and the ladies group there. Emma and her husband Keith spent 19 winters in Mesa, Arizona. Emma and Keith were married for 56 years and enjoyed there Golden Wedding Anniversary so much. Her husband Keith preceded her in death on January 5, 1996.
She is survived by Two Daughters: Mrs. Bill (Shirley) Hooten of Columbus, Indiana; & Mrs. Bob (Karen) Elliott of Greensburg, Indiana. Three Sons: Gene A. (Sharon) Baugh of Carmel, Indiana, Shelley (Connie) Baugh of Greensburg, Indiana & Steve (Lynn) Baugh of Versailles, Indiana; One Sister: Mary Frances Barr of St. Paul, Indiana also survives. She is also survived by Fourteen Grandchildren: J.D. (Jen) Cox of Petersburg, MI., Joyce McQueen of Mooresville, IN., Ray (Judy) Cox of Clarksburg, TN., Cindy (Jeremy) Thompson of Columbus, IN., Rich (Debbie) Baugh of Jensen Beach, FL., Susan (Tom) Hoard of Bloomington, IN., Raina (Andy) Chezem of Carmel, IN., Gary (Stacie) Baugh and Tony Baugh both of Fishers, IN., Jenny (Chuck) Parra of Ruskin, FL., Ed Baugh of Greensburg, IN., David (Lisa) Baugh of Versailles, IN., Stacey (Troy) Harmon & Bryan Elliott both of Greensburg, IN., 7 Step Grandchildren; 20 Great Grandchildren; 10 Step Great Grandchildren; 5 Great Great Grandchildren; & 10 Step Great Great Grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home on Monday December 21, 2009 from 4:00 until 8:00PM. The funeral service will be held Tuesday December 22, 2009 at 1:00PM at the Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Cantrell officiating. Burial will follow in the Lower Union Presbyterian Cemetery.
