Antiquarian, Draftsman, Architect and Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of London. He was distinguished for his superior knowledge of the Ancient Architecture of England.
 
Note: He is credited with saving the Galilee an the Neville Screen at Durham Cathedral in 1796. Among his many publications, mostly views of Gothic buildings, he had printed pseudonymously a dramatic account of an unhappy love affair.
