The History of Kern Co. CA lists David Carter as arriving in Salt Lake with his parents at age 13. He soon learned the Indian language. His occupation was that of a teamster. He traveled many trips from UT to CA. One trip he over heard the Indians ploting to kill the members of a large train of emigrants which he had joined. He talked the Indians out of their plans. In 1859 he settled at San Bernardino resuming his teaming. In 1865 he came to Kern County selecting land on Kern Island. Here he brought his bride Miss Sarah Ann Carter, a native of Spencer Co. IND. History has they were blessed with two children. After farming for a while he engaged in teaming at Kernville for two years. David Carter removed to Los Angles and gave his attention to hauling and teaming in that city. Returning to Bakersfield in 1889, he since has kept a number of teams and has earned a comfortable liveihood from hauling, freighting and teaming. All his life he supported the Democratic party. Fraternally he has been connected with the Ancient Order of United Workmen for many years.

Daugher Arminda Carter b. 1868 California and died in Bakersfield, Kern California before 1900. Married Christian Chreston Anderson Blanch 22 March 1883 San Bernardino County CA.

Daughter Myrtle Carter b. 1878 and died 1971. Married Otto P. Lindgren.
