Mrs Dorothy Carter, 715 Hawkins Street, Americus, GA, died September 30, 2006 in Sumter Regional Hospital in Americus. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 5, 2006 from Bethesda Baptist Church with Reverend Kelvin Hawkins officiating.
Burial in Andersonville National Cemetery will follow. She was born February 8, 1920 in Sumter County, GA, daughter of James Carter [188-1950] and Gussie Shootes
Carter [1889-1974]. Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Reverend Irvin
Carter; 2 sons, James Carter and Reverend David (Shana) Carter; 4
daughters, Mrs Dorothy (Alvin) Branch, Ms Gwendolyn Hicks, Ms Cheryl
Bonner and husband Jerome Thomas and Ms Melba Williams; a sister, Ms
Josephine Simpson; 8 grandchildren.
