George Noah Carter, 87, lifelong resident of Jackson County, died Friday at the residence of his daughter, Mrs J E Adams in Moss Point after an illness of 10 months.
A native of the Salem community he was formerly engaged in the turpentine and sawmill business at Hurley. He was a member of the Moss Point First Methodist Church.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Adams and Mrs J J Carter of Wade; three step-daughters, Mesdames Roy Krebs and Corine Hurd, Pascagoula, and Miss Evelyn Dunaway, Moss Point; a stepson, Malcolm Dunaway, Moss Point.
Three grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, and three great great-grandchildren.
Services were held from Moss Point First Methodist Sunday with Dr Marion L. Smith, pastor, officiating, assisted by the Rev Harry Bufkin, Caswell Springs Methodist.
Interment was in Machpelah.
