Alfred Leo Carter, 55, retired Mechanical and Maintenance Operations Supervisor for the Kentucky Department of Transportation, died Monday, April 16, 2007 at the Hospice Care Center at St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington. Born in Franklin County, he was a son of Helen M. Carter of Millville and the late William H. Carter.

A member of the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, he was an avid Harley-Davidson enthusiast, loved fishing, and enjoyed cooking.

Survivors, in addition to his mother, include one son, William C. Carter, USMC, of California, three grandchildren, Allen Carter, Andrew Carter, both of Lexington, Eve Carter of Texas, two sisters, Lillian E. Morton and Virginia L. Sandifer of Versailles, a brother, Joseph H. Carter of Frankfort.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 21 at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, Millville with Rev. H. E. Bolton officiating. Visitation is after 10:00 a.m. Saturday, at the church. Interment will follow services at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Troy Worley, Clifford Harris, Dale Spicer, John Floyd, Larry Thomas, Randy Long, John Lee Cushingberry, and Richard Kirtley. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Van Hoose, Dan Walls Brad Abbott, John Wilson, Eugene Wilson, Wallace Morton, Eddie Knight, and Rick Snapp.
