Sylvia was born April 27,1912 at Burton, Idaho to Annie McCulloch and Otto Pearson, she being the fourth of six children.
Sylvia spent her childhood living in Rexburg, where she attended grade school and Madison High school. In the summer the family would move to the dry farm in the Moody Creek area. She had many fond memories of life there. It was like a summer vacation, picking berries, riding horses and enjoying brothers and sister, just all the family being together.
Sylvia married William (Frenchy) Carter, May 28,1930. They made their home in Rexburg, Teton Basin, back to Rexburg then to a farm near Sugar City, then back to Rexburg. She was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in the Primary and Mutual withy fond memories of her Bee Hive Class. She also served as a Visiting Teacher for many years. Sylvia was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and very proud of her ancestors.
Sylvia and Frenchy spent many winters in Arizona and summers in Island Park where they had built a cabin. She spent the last eight, plus years living at Fair Winds Retirement Center in Idaho Falls where she had many friends.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, all her siblings, her husband Frenchly, son Kyle and grandson David.
She married John Terry in 1984. He died in 1992. She is survived by sons Bill (Melba), Dan (Judy) and daughter Claire (Keith) Welch , 18 grandchildren and many great and great great grandchildren.
The family would like to say thanks to the personnel at Fair Winds and Hands of Hope Home Health and Hospice. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at the Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg. Interment will be in the Sugar City Cemetery.
