Elizabeth (Lib) Fields passed away peacefully on January 23, 2010, at Carolinas Medical Center, in Charlotte, NC, surrounded by her loved ones.

Born in LaGrange, NC, on January 18, 1924, Lib was a daughter of the late Almon Hill Carter, Sr. and Alice Hussey Carter. She received a Bachelors Degree from Meredith College in Raleigh. She is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Robert A. Fields, Sr., infant daughter Cynthia Ann Fields; her brother, Almon Hill Carter, Jr.; and sister Grace Hussey Carter.

Lib was a devoted and loving mother of six children and briefly taught and substituted at various schools. She and husband Bob were owners of Snaggy Hollow in Saluda, NC, and members of the First Baptist Church in Farmville and Saluda, NC. Lib enjoyed spending time with her family, laughing and visiting with her dear friends, and drinking her afternoon Starbucks.

She is survived by Mary Elizabeth Fields and Jane Brandes Fields of Charlotte, NC; Alice Grace Fields Crisp and husband, Bobby, of Columbus, NC; Nathan Carter Fields and wife, Laura, of Saluda, NC; Robert Allen Fields, Jr. and wife, Mary Anne, of Monument, CO; grandchildren Jason Fields and wife, Jenny; Brandon Fields, Zachary Fields; Elizabeth Fields; great grandchild Alex Fields; sister Mrs. Alice Lou Sanderson and family of Rose Hill, NC; and Marion Glyn Carter and family of Wallace, NC.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 27, from 12:00-1:30 pm at Padgett Funeral Home, 401 W Main St., in Wallace, NC. Following visitation, graveside services will be conducted at 2 pm by Dr. Marion Lark at Rockfish Memorial Cemetery.
