Mary E. "Babe" Carsner, 85, of Crestview Acres Care Center, Marion, formerly of Anamosa, died Tuesday, August 4, 1998, at Crestview follwoing a long illness. Services: 1 p.m. Tuesday, Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, by the Rev. Cecil Ballard of Grace Baptist Church, Marion. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home, and after noon on Tuesday at the Chapel.
Survivors include four sons, Stewart and wife Beverly of Delhi, Stephen and wife Marcene of Bertram, Louis Jr. and wife Carol of Napa, California, and James and Ginger of Silverton, Oregon; a daughter, Phyllis Forcht and husband Billy of Knoxville, Iowa; a brother Robert of Washington, Iowa; two grandsons, whom she raised, Kenneth and Kevin, both of Hiawatha; 20 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 21 great-great-grandchildren.
Mary was born May 26, 1913 in Anamosa, the daughter of James and Mary Byerly McConaughy. She married Louis G. Carsner November 20, 1928, in Marion. He died January 6, 1968.
