Almira was born March 4, 1849, in Perry, Washington County, Maine, daughter of George W. and Sarah B. Babcock, born in Canada and Maine respectively. She died Jan. 30, 1922, at Cumberland, Wis., aged 72 years, 10 months and 26 days, and was buried beside her husband in the Comstock Cemetery. Her gravestone is inscribed "Mother Almira H. Carsley 1847 - 1922."

On Oct. 5, 1875, Almira was united in marriage to David Clark Carsley at Cady, St. Croix Co., Wis. Their children were:

Marian Elsie, b. 3 Feb 1876;
Silas Alonzo, b. 14 May 1877;
Calista Marissa. b. 6 Feb 1880;
Josephine Ceasa, b. 21 Oct 1883;
Sarah Anna, b. 3 Aug 1885;
Amy Louisa, b. 20 Aug 1887;
Violet Carsley, date of birth unknown.

Almira's brother, George W. Babcock, a Civil War veteran of Co. F, 1st Wisconsin Infantry, is buried in Wayside Cemetery, Barron, Wis. Her sister Harriet Babcock, married Samuel H. Carsley, a Civil War veteran of Company I, 38th Wis. Infantry. After Harriet's death, Samuel married her sister Mary Esther Babcock, who predeceased him. The burial sites of his two wives are unknown, but they may buried beside him in the Comstock Cemetery.

MRS. D.C. CARSLEY BURIED AT COMSTOCK.

Mrs. D.C. Carsley died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W.W. West, Monday January 30, after an illness of two weeks with bronchial pneumonia. Funeral services were held at the West home in Turtle Lake, Wednesday, Rev. Adams of Turtle Lake officiated and interment was made in the Comstock Cemetery by the side of her husband who died in September, 1908.

Hannah Almira, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Babcock, was born March 4, 1849, in Maine. She was united in marriage with D. C. Carsley in 1875 and for some time lived at Cady, Wisconsin. Seven daughters were born to this union, one of whom died in infancy. The others are Mrs. W.W. West, Turtle Lake; Mrs. Calista N. Taylor, Mt. Home, Idaho; Mrs. Oscar Jacobson, Cumberland; Mrs. Vern Miller, Frederic, Wis.; Amy of Minneapolis and Violet of Superior.

The Carsleys came to Comstock, Wis. about thirty-five years ago, where they homesteaded a farm and lived of a time. They came to Cumberland about thirty years ago and until she became too feeble to be left alone, Mrs. Carsley lived here.

Besides her children she leaves two sisters, Mrs. Horace Carsley of Comstock, Mrs. Phernetton of Webster and one brother, Simon Babcock of Baldwin, Wis. For many years she was a faithful and consistent member of the Baptist church and the W.C.T.U. and when she was able she took a great interest in the work of both.
