Heavenly father, we come to you today to say thank you for the time we had with our loved one.
Our Daddy, Robert Marvin Carroll Bevers was born to Lucille Melton and Earnest Bevers in Yoakum County, Texas April 20, 1942, and passed on January 5th, 2006, in Odessa, Texas.
Robert was a hard working man with many friends. He had several nicknames including Crash, Pokie, Bob and R.C. He loved to talk and joke with anyone who crossed his path. Daddy joined the Navy after high school and was very proud to have served his country. Robert worked in the oil field most of his life and enjoyed the friendships he made. He felt as if they were an extended family. Being out in nature, watching the birds and animals, and sunsets, brought him a lot of joy.
Daddy often called his daughter at the end of the day and described the beauty he saw in all that God had made. He also enjoyed bowling, fishing, country music, Cowboys games and a good meal, but the ultimate joy in his life was spending time with his daughter, Theresa Debra Louise Nordman; son-in-law Christopher and his grandson Allen Michael Nordman.
Daddy was a bit rough around the edges; at first sight he might have appeared stern and gruff. But if you ever had the pleasure of looking into his big blue-grey eyes, you could see into the heart of the most kind, gentle and generous man I have ever known. I will forever be grateful to him for all he has taught me and for all the sacrifices he made to insure my happiness. Each day I will look to the blue-gray sky and remember his kind, loving eyes, and all the precious memories I have of our lives together.
Mr. Bevers is preceded in death by mother Lucille Melton Bevers; father, Earnest Bevers; brothers, J.W. Bevers and Cash Bevers.
Robert is survived by three sisters, Sue Johnson and Vera Hammon both of Levelland, Texas, Juanita Manross of Louisiana; sister-in-law, Bernice Bevers of Seminole, Texas and special nephew, David Bevers of Alvin, Texas, two daughters, Theresa Nordman, and husband, Christopher, of Odessa, Texas, Angela Kirk of Auberndale, Florida; a son, Kenneth Highfill and wife LeAnna of Odessa, Texas; six grandsons, two granddaughters and thirteen nieces and nephews.
Father, please welcome Daddy’s soul back into your bosom and hold him close until we make it there to hold him once again.
