Sapper WR/311719 William Carroll, Royal Engineers, Inland Water Transport was the son of Patrick Carroll and Catherine Carroll nee Kennan. William married Anne Brophy in Ireland in 1886 and they had five children together. He died in active service of accidental injuries received in France and was laid to rest at Ford Cemetery.

William was entitled to be awarded the British WW1 medals and his next of kin would have been sent the Memorial Death Plaque of WW1.

Commemorated in perpetuity by Commonwealth War Graves Commission.
