James Lisle Carrigan, 53, died July 21, 1990 of injuries sustained in an airplane accident.

Born May 19, 1937 in Bingham Canyon, Utah to Nona and James R. Carrigan. Married Kathleen Holley May 31, 1963 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

He attended Bingham High and upon graduation, entered BYU. He served an LDS Mission to Australia. After his mission he entered the Air Force ROTC and received his commission after completion of a bachelors degree from BYU. Jim served his country in Vietnam and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. He later completed a masters degree in Educational Administration at the University of Utah.

Jim became a pilot for Western Airlines and moved his family to Los Angeles. He returned to Salt Lake and later joined Delta when it merged with Western.

Jim had many interests outside of work. He was a devoted husband, father, son and friend. He was very active in the LDS Church. He could fix anything and he used his talents to help those in need. He loved to travel and took his family all over the world.

Jim and Kathy joined friends at a breath taking vacation spot in Idaho over Memorial weekend. The trip ended in tragedy when an airplane accident took Kathy's life on May 27. Jim later passed away despite the heroic efforts of family and friends and medical personnel.

Survived by children, Wendy and Doug Weaver, James P. Carrigan, Holly Lynn Carrigan, and stepmother, Alice Carrigan.

Jim will be remembered for his sense of humor and his eager willingness to help those in need.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 26, 1990, at 12 noon, at the Cottonwood 12th Ward, 1750 Spring Lane. Viewing will be held from 10:30-11:45 at the same location. Interment, Sunset Gardens of the Valley, 10600 South 1700 East. The family suggests to those who wish, contributions to the LDS General Missionary Fund. Funeral directors, MacKay Cottonwood Mortuary.
