"Ginger" Carrico Fleck Babbitt, 72, died at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday (Jan 20, 1998) in Cottage hospital. She was born Jan. 30, 1925 in Roseville, the daughter of J. Wallace and Nannie Edwina Smith Carrico. She married Weldon Fleck in 1947; he died in 1982. She married Robert E. Babbitt on Dec 27, 1977 in Galesburg. He died Dec. 17, 1994. Surviving are one stepson, Robert L. Babbitt, Galesburg; two brothers, James W. Carrico, Jr., Denton, Texas and George M. Carrico, Knoxville; two sisters, Betty Higham-Wainwright, Hillsdale, and Helen "Peggy" Wilson, Kansas City, Mo.; two stepgranddaughters, and one stepgreat-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister. She had lived in Galesburg since 1940. She was a homemaker, and was a medical secretary and assistant for several area physicians for 24 years. She retired in December 1977. She was of the Lutheran faith. A private family graveside service was held in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens on Saturday, Jan. 24, with Rev. Leigh Nygard officiating. (The Register-Mail, Galesburg, Ill., Wednesday Jan. 21, 1998, p.
