Catherine Davis "Kate" Wooldridge Sharp Carr was one of three children born to Absalom Davis Wooldridge, Jr. and his wife Ida Kate Wooldridge, whose maiden name was the same as her married surname. Kate was a silent film screenwriter in Hollywood, California with more than thirty plays to her credit during the 1910's and 1920's.
Kate was united in marriage twice during her life-time: first to W. Newton Sharp, a New York Banker and clubman, who passed away right after they were wed; and second in 1900 to John Gillis Carr, the son of William Tazwell Fox and his wife Ella Bowles Carr. John and his sister Henrietta Page Fox Carr Thompson took their mother's maiden name after their parents divorced.
Kate and John were blessed with the birth of two children during their short 2 1/2 year marriage:
Stanley Armistead Carr
Temple Gwathmey Carr
After the pre-mature death of her husband, Kate and her two boys relocated to California where her silent screenwriting career took off.
Kate passed away at the age of 61. Her remains were cremated and interred with her mother, Ida Kate Wooldridge, her son, Temple Gwathmey Carr, and her daughter-in-law, Betty Hayden Carr.
