Betty Hayden Carr was the daughter of Clarence E. and Ethel M. Cadieux Hayden. Betty's mother passed away in 1918 and Betty grew up in the home of her maternal grandparents and her maternal cousins.
Betty moved to Hollywood, California where she worked as a stenographer for an oil company. She was united in marriage to Temple Gwathmey Carr in 1939, after his divorce became finalized from his first with Hilda in that same year. Betty became the step-mother to his two daughters.
Betty and Temple did not have any of their own children, and upon retirement, they relocated to Clackamas, Oregon.
