1918-2011
Patricia Inez Carr passed away Thursday, Dec. 1, 2011, in Carlsbad, Calif.
Born in 1918 in Oxnard to Pearl and Joseph Connelly, Pat was the eldest of six children. She graduated from Oxnard High School and attended secretarial college in Pasadena before marrying Charles A. (Mike) Carr on July 22, 1940. While residing in Oxnard and later in Santa Barbara to operate Mike's business Carr Bros. Trucking, Pat and Mike raised eight children. Mike and their son Charles E. Carr preceded Pat in death. She is survived by her remaining seven children, [all living, five daughters, two sons]; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Pat was employed as a bookkeeper at an auto dealership in Santa Barbara after her husband Mike's death until she relocated to Placerville, Calif., to live near some of her children. At age 80 Pat moved to Connecticut to live with her son [living] and his family to help with their young children. She returned to California to live out her remaining years in Carlsbad near her daughter [living].
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Pearl Connelly; sisters, Connie (Katherine) Burdullis and Carolyn (Midge) Curtis; and her brothers, Joseph Connelly and Eugene (Archie) Connelly. She is also survived by her youngest sister, Margaret (Marge) Fisher.
In her retirement Pat lived a simple life enjoying caring for her grandchildren, playing cards and board games with her family. She also was an avid sports fan enjoying watching golf, basketball and baseball.
Services will be held on Friday, Dec. 9, at Santa Clara Church in Oxnard. Rosary will be at 9:30 a.m. followed by Mass at 10 a.m. Private internment at Calvary Cemetery in Santa Barbara on Saturday.
