CARR, WILLIAM H., 61, passed away Saturday, January 16, 2010.

He was a member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church, the Louisville Gospel Choral Union and was the first black student body president at Eastern Kentucky University. He was a retired government employee with the Corp. of Engineers, and also retired from the United States Air Force and Coast Guard Reserves.

Survivors: mother, Essie Carr; brother, Derrick W. Carr; sisters, Toni Holt, Gail O'Bannon, Susan Mills and Vickie West; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.

Funeral: 1 p.m. Thursday at his church, 1500 Beech St., with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation noon-2 p.m. Wednesday at A.D. Porter & Sons, 1300 W. Chestnut St., and 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
