Services for Lillian Florence Calhoun, 83, of Lufkin, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Gipson-Metcalf Funeral Home Chapel with Re. Ty Phillips. Interment will follow in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Wells.
Mrs. Calhoun was born April 3, 1920, in Delvin, Texas, the daughter of the late Lillian (Mathis) and William Robert Carr, and she died Monday, March 22, 2004, in a local hospital.
Mrs. Calhoun was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother. she worked in the Redland Baptist Chruch Nursery, where she was a member. She was also secretary of the Ruth Class of Reland Baptist Church for many years.
Survivors include her husband, Ben F. Calhoun of Lufkin; sons and daughters-in-laws, John David and Paua Bailey, David and Cheryl Calhoun all of Lufkin; daughters and sons-in-laws, Jeanell and Murl Standley, Sarah and James Stevens, all of Lufkin, and Nancy and Tom Moore of Augusta, Kansas; sisters, Dean Furgeson, Norma Dale Gurganus, and Mary Talley, all of Lufkin, all of Lufkin; 16 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Calhoun was preceded in death by her husband, John Waverly Bailey,; son, Carl Adkinson; daughters, Delores Bailey Carver, and Darlene Bailey Woolf, and brothers, Wayne Carr and William Murl Carr.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Standley, Craig Standley, Dennis Netherton, Luke Calhoun, Adam Shocklee, and Joey Pellerin.
Honorary pallbearers will be Rusty Moore, Wesley Moore, Joe Buschman, Greg Liddle, Sam Pinner, and Jay Thorton.
