Sylvia Alma Carpenter, age 88, passed away on December 30, 2008 at Community Care of Rutherford County. She was a native of CoffeeCounty, but lived most of her life in Rutherford County. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a former employee of Middle Tennessee MedicalCenter, homemaker and member of Bellwood Baptist Church.

Mrs. Carpenter is preceded in death by her parents, Ervin and Lula Wilson Jacobs; husband, Jackson Carpenter; two brothers, Butch Jacobs and Ross Jacobs; two sisters, Maddie Lee and Annie Bell Corbitt; and granddaughter, Renee Carter. She is survived by one son, Don (Sherry) Carpenter; three daughters, Rachel (Manny) Cabral of FL; Patsy (Robert) Areseneau of CA; and Vickie (David) Avaritt of AZ; niece, June Trotter of Smyrna; nine grandchildren, Patrick (Marsha) Carpenter, Debbie Hasson, Manny Cabral, Jr., Steven Cabral, Michael Carson, Cameron (Karen) Carson, Ginger (Bryan) Helton, and Georgia Avaritt; and eleven great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
