Bryant L. Carpenter, 91, died Friday at the Life Care Center in Wilbraham surrounded by loving family. Bryant was born in Medford, grew up in Rockland, and moved to Wilbraham in 1960.

He was a retired Lieutenant for the Wilbraham Fire Department and previously worked for the Chicopee Manufacturing Company as a Textile Engineer. He was a longtime member of the Amherst Railway Society. Bryant also served in Normandy with the United States Army during World War II.

His wife Elizabeth (Rich) Carpenter died in 2007. He leaves two sons; William and his wife Diana of Coshocton, OH, and Wesley and his wife Karen of Lisbon Falls, ME; a sister Ottilie Scales; three grandchildren, Tanya Capawana, James Carpenter and Amanda Hofkens, and a great granddaughter Danielle Carpenter. He was predeceased by a brother, Alan Carpenter.

A private graveside service will be held in Glendale Cemetery, Wilbraham in the spring. There are no calling hours and the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home is handling all arrangements.
