Mrs. Alice Carney, 48, wife of J. Joseph Carney Jr., 728 Hill Top Drive, died last night in Allegany Hospital where she had been a patient since March 12.

A native of Cumberland, Mrs. Carney was a daughter of the late Frnk J. and Anna (Miltenberger) Grabenstein.

She attended St. Patrick's Parochial School as a child and was a graduate nurse, having completed her training at St. Agnes Hospital School of Nursing, Baltimore.

Mrs. Carney was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Sodality of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Catholic Daughters of America and the LaSalle Mothers Club.

Surviving, besides her husband, are two sons, Michael Thomas Carney, at home, and John Joseph Carney, a student at St. Charles College, Catonsville; four daughters, Patricia Ann, Alice Eileen, Mary Louise and Kathleen Marie Carney, all at home; two brothers, Fred H. Graebenstein, this city and the Rev. Fr. Henry F. Graebenstein, pastor of Holy Comforter Church, Washington, and five sisters; Sister Mary Justus, 14 Holy Martyrs Convent, Baltimore; Sister Mary Regina, College of Notre Dame, Baltimpre; Mrs. Joseph J. Coleman and Mrs. DeSales Mattingly, this city, and Mrs. John J. Dugan, Silver Spring."
