Catherine H. (Hayes) Neenan, 78, of New Bedford, formerly of Dartmouth died Thursday January 1, 2004 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness. She was the wife of the late John R. Neenan.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Hugh and Julia (Harrington) Carney, she lived in New Bedford and Dartmouth for most of her life. She was a graduate of Holy Family High School and St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing.

She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in South Dartmouth.

Mrs. Neenan was formerly employed as a registered nurse in the maternity ward at St. Luke's Hospital and as a public health nurse for the City of New Bedford Health Department and the New Bedford Redevelopment Authority.

She was a member of the Catholic Nurse's Guild.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Julia M. Neenan of New Bedford, and Margaret M. Steiblin, and her husband Vincent, of Rochester; 2 sons, John R. Neenan, and his wife Marguerite, of Demarest, NJ, and Hugh J. Neenan, and his wife Ann-Margaret, of Dartmouth; 7 grandchildren, Tricia Steiblin, John Steiblin, Sean Neenan, Emily Neenan, Sarah Neenan, Erika Neenan and Patrick Neenan; and 3 great-grandchildren, Tyler Fairclough, Cameron Fairclough and Devin Steiblin.She was the sister of the late John Hayes and James Hayes.

Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New BedfordMonday January 5, 2004 at 10 AM.Funeral Mass at St. Mary's Church, South Dartmouth at 11 AM.Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Sunday January 4, 2004 from 4-7 PM. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
