Funeral services for Mrs. Ben Allen, 29 years old, whose death occurred Monday night (Sept. 18, 1944) in St. John's Hospital, Joplin, will be held at the Methodist Church in Neosho at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon.
Mrs. Allen, the former Helen Carnes, daughter of Leonard Carnes, 813 North Lincoln Street, has a host of friends here who are deeply sorry to learn of her untimely death. She was a graduate of Neosho High School, and was a member of Carterville Chapter No. 11, Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Allen has been a member of the Methodist Church since her girlhood. Funeral services will be conducted for her tomorrow by Rev. John Moore Joplin, a former pastor, and close friends of the family, assisted by Rev. Robt. M. Lehew, pastor of the Methodist Church here.
The husband, one son, Ben Allen, three years old, and one daughter, Judith Kay, one year old, survive. Other relatives being Mrs. Allen' father, Leonard Carnes; two sisters, Mrs. Patricia Thompson and Janice Lee Carnes, Neosho, and two brothers, Col. Robt, Carnes serving in the Pacific and Pvt. Leonard Carnes, Jr., who is in the European war theatre; a grandmother, Mrs. Robert Elliott of Carthage, and Mrs. Frank Savage and Mrs. Frank Culkin of Neosho who are aunts.
Mrs. Allen's body will lie in state at the the church from 1:00 o'clock tomorrow afternoon until the funeral hour. Her O.E.S. Chapter will conduct Eastern Star funeral services at the grave,.
Burial will be made in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery here.
