Phillip Max Carmin, 84, former Muncie resident, passed away Thursday in Kendallville, IN. The sonof Kit and Hazel (Kirkpatrick) Carmin, he was born in Gaston, IN. A 1942 graduate of Harrison Township High School, he married Becky McKinley on Feb. 6, 1949 in Eaton. Max was well known for his work at Smittie's Menswear, where he worked for over 50 years.
He was a 50-year member of the Matthews Lodge #650 F&AM, and attended the Lake Missionary Church and the Heartland Fellowship Church.
Surviving is his wife of 60 years, Becky Carmin; one daughter, Jill Carmin; one granddaughter, Samantha Carmin; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kit and Hazel Carmin.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in the Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, Eaton, IN, with Roland Roth presiding. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Muncie, IN. Friends may call from 2-5 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to services Monday at the mortuary. Memorials may be made in his name to the Lake Missionary Church, Angola, IN, or Heartland Fellowhsip Church, Orland, IN.
