Cecil A. Carmichael Sr., 83, of Clinton, died Sunday, April 3, 2005, at St. Mary's Residential Hospice. He was a member of New Salem Baptist Church for 35 years and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, who served in World War II in Gen. George S. Patton's Third Army. After his discharge, he came to Oak Ridge where he was employed at the Oak Ridge Gaseous Diffusion Plant (K-25) as a security inspector. He worked there for 39 years. While there, he met and married Nell McGuire.

In addition to his parents, Frank S. and Dovie May Carmichael, Mr. Carmichael was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Nell M. Carmichael; four brothers, Robert, John, Paul and Jack Carmichael, all of White Pine; and a sister, Bonnie Franklin of Lenoir City.

He is survived by his son, Cecil A. Carmichael Jr. and wife, Jennifer, of Clinton; seven grandchildren, Joshua, Jesse, Nathan, Miriam, Caleb, Rebekah and Hannah Carmichael, all of Clinton; two
brothers, Frank Carmichael of Morristown, and George Carmichael of White Pine; and two sisters, Robbie May Heacker of Harriman, and Barbara Williams of Lenoir City.

The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2005, at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. Mike Gallaher officiating. The burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 7, at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens in
Claxton. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton in charge of arrangements.
