St. Louis City
Albert was the 10th of 13 children born to Andrew Carmichael from Kilrea Parish, County Derry, Ireland and Isabella Johnstone from Dumfriesshires, Scotland.
He left Spencerville soon after the age of 16 to attend law school in Chicago where he married Dorothy E. Sable. According to his nephew's memoirs, Albert practiced law in Chicago for many years.
My father remembered being in Eaton's Department Store in Toronto about 1917 with Uncle Albert, who encouraged him to try out a large tricycle, a wondrously strange experience. Somehow it magically arrived at the church manse in Scarboro in time for Christmas - Uncle Albert's gift.
In 1928 the couple moved to St. Louis city, Missouri, where about 1930 Albert became president of the Mississippi Valley Paper Company. He retired from that position in May 1936 due to health reasons and died that August at age 61. There were no children.
The cremation took place at Valhalla Crematory in Missouri and a year later the ashes were transferred to the Acacia Park Cemetery in Chicago, signed for by Mrs. A. Carmichael.
