Doris Lenore Bjorling, 90, a long-time resident of Mount Vernon, died peacefully at her home in Mount Vernon on Thursday, August 12, 2010.

She was born in Milltown, Washington on June 6, 1920, daughter of Ernst and Josephine (Fuller) Carlson of Stanwood.

Doris graduated from Stanwood High School, having a strong interest in music and the arts. She was in a vocal trio called The Three Tones, which included her sister, Marion, and occasionally performed on radio station KVI.

She attended WWU briefly before going to beauty school. She practiced beauty work for several years and owned a beauty salon.

After marrying Ken Bjorling on August 23, 1947 she became a full-time homemaker and mother.

Doris had a great love for her husband, family, friends, music and home life; she spent her entire lifetime making a wonderful environment for her family, teaching her children love of family and togetherness by living example.

She is survived by her children, Daniel Bjorling, Mike Bjorling and Roberta Bjorling. Her grandchildren, Amy Kay Clark and Zachary Clark also survive her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; her parents, Ernst and Josephine; her sister, Marion Carlson Melquist; and her brother, Lloyd Carlson.

A private family graveside service was held at Clear Lake Cemetery.
