Leavenworth – Mrs. Wilhelmina C. Brown, 89, of Leavenworth, a former Chelan resident, died in the Leavenworth hospital Tuesday following a brief illness.
Born in Ins Farila, Gavieborg Land, Sweden, May 23, 1876, she came to the US at the age of three. With her parents she settled in Minnesota. She married William C. Brown in 1901 and lived in Minneapolis and Racine, Wis., until 1915, when she came to Chelan to visit her sister, Mrs. Anna Bennett. While there, her sister died suddenly and Mrs. Brown remained in the home and reared her sister's children. She resided in Chelan until 1949 when, for health reasons, she moved to Leavenworth.
Surviving are two nephews, and a niece, Claude A Bennett, Seattle, and Samuel J. Bennett, San Carlos, Calif.; a niece, Mrs. Paul Richardson, Waterville; three sisters, Mrs. Raymond B. Ruden, Minneapolis, Minn.; Mrs. Harrison McNeil, Spokane and Mrs. John Alwin, Portland.
