Mother is Dead Here
Mrs. Ida Anderson was 84
Death Occurred Wednesday After Week's Illness

Mrs. Ida S. Anderson, a Gold Star mother, whose son Edward died in France, Oct. 31, 1918, passed away at her home in town early Wednesday morning after a week's illness with heart disease. She had been a resident of Oakland and community since 1882, and was 84 years old

Ida Sophia Carlson was born Sept. 4, 1849, at Östegotland, Norrköpings Län, Sweden, and was married in that country to John William Anderson June 18, 1878.

In 1882 the Andersons came to Oakland. They settled on a farm eight miles south of Oakland, later moving on their own farm, four miles south, where Mr. Anderson died in 1900.

Mrs. Anderson moved into Oakland in 1912 and this has remained her home since then. She, together with her husband, joined the First Lutheran church in 1893. Mrs. Anderson continued her membership in the church until her death and was faithful in attendance.

Eight children were born to the Andersons, two of whom passed away in infancy. Edward died in France aged 29. Four daughters and one son remain to mourn her departure, namely; Ellen, at home; Carl, Mrs. Ed Anderson, and Mrs. A. S. Colvert of Oakland; Mrs. Carl Nordstrom of Winner, So. Dak. One sister and five grandsons also survive.

Mrs. Anderson was tenderly cared for by her daughter, Ellen, many years. She was a good Christian Woman, a kind and devoted mother, and will be greatly missed by her children. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock from the home and at 2:30 at the First Lutheran church, with Dr. M. J. Laure in charge.

The body is at Paulson Bros. funeral home.
