Dolores (Johnson) Carlson, would have celebrated her 81st birthday, born Jan. 7, 1926, but passed away on Jan. 1, 2007 in St. Mary's Medical Center Hospice Unit. A graduate of Hermantown High School in 1943, Dolores worked at Northern City National Bank as a teller before her marriage to Robert Carlson on June 18, 1948 in Duluth. Following their marriage, Dolores and Robert moved to Milwaukee until the early 1960's at which time they moved to Hopkins, Minn., where they owned and operated a Beauty Salon until moving back to Duluth. From 1975 to1979 they were Resident Caretakers/Managers of the Tri Towers. Dolores was a member of the Trinity Chapter Order of the Eastern Star 242. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, crocheting traveling and playing cards with Bob's cousins. Bob and Dolores had been 'snowbirds' since the 1980's; and each winter since 1990 Dolores resided at Admiralty Yacht Club in North Fort Meyer, Fla. and Ridgewood Apartments in Hermantown. Dolores and Bob had lost their only son, Gary in a tragic airplane accident in Galena, Alaska, on Jan. 1, 1978; 29 years before her death, on the same date. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Bob (1993); parents, Col. Wm. E. and Alice (Walin) Johnson and her brother, David Johnson. She is survived by a sister, Delaine Carlson of Hermantown; sister-in-law, June Johnson of Green Valley, Ariz.; nephews, Dr. Jeffrey (Ginny) Carlson of Mt. View, Calif., Craig Carlson of Wrangel, AK, Dr. David (Julie) Johnson of Bloomington, Minn., Dwight (Monica) Johnson of St. Francis, Minn., and Peter (Karla) Carlson of Forest Lake, Minn.; niece, Julie (Scott) Youngstrom of Hermantown, Minn.; and all of their children. VISITATION:1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. funeral service Saturday in Bell Brothers Chapel. Burial will be at Oneota Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society or Gethsemane Covenant Church.
