FUNERAL SERVICES FOR PROCTOR MATRON
Funeral services for Mrs. Amanda C. Carlson, 63, wife of Carl J. Carlson, who passed away at a Duluth hospital on Monday morning after a long illness, were held at the Forbes Methodist church, Wednesday at 2 p. m., with Rev. Chas. P. Keast, former pastor of the church, officiating. Interment was made in Oneota cemetery.
The church was filled to overflowing with the large number of relatives and friends from near and far, who had come tro pay their last respects to a woman who was well and most favorably known. The beautiful flowers testified to the place she held in the community where she had made her home for 45 years. She was a devoted member of Forbes Methodist church and the Ladies' Aid society, where she served as president for many years until ill health forced her to give up the work she loved so well. She was a member of the G. I. A. to B. of L. E. and served as its president until last fall. She was also affiliated with Procter Chapter, OES.
She is survived by her husband, three sons, Roy of Proctor; Verne, of Hibbing and Dr. Theodore, of Duluth; one daughter, Mrs. R. G. Wombacher, of Proctor and thirteen grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Gust Johnson, of Duluth and Mrs. Hilda Swenson, of North Branch and four brothers, Alfred Carlson, of North Branch; William and Edwin, of Minneapolis and Otto Carlson, of Riverside Calif.
She was born in Smoland, Sweden, Dec. 9, 1879 and was married to Mr. Carlson, Oct. 3, 1898, coming to Proctor as a bride. She was a good wife, mother and friend and her passing has created a vacancy in the circle which will be difficult to fill.
Pall bearers were M. D. Brayden, E. E. Hawkins, A. A. Asher, D. F. McKenzie, Robert Brayden and C. A. Greene, all retired engineers and friends of the family.
Out-of-town relatives and friends attending the funeral included: Mrs. Carl Swenson and Mr. Alfred Carlson, of North Branch; Mr. and Mrs. Wm Carlson, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Carlson, Mr. and Mrs. Wilber Widell and Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Widell, all of Minneapolis; Mr. and Mrs. Fred J. Carlson, St. Paul; Mrs. C. Pearson and Mrs. G. DeLong, Ironwood, Mich., Mrs. M. B. Kitto and Mr. and Mrs. Wm Peil, Tower; Mrs. L. Peterson and Mrs. J. Edstrom, Two Harbors; Mrs. M. H. Tryder, Coleraine; Mr. and Mrs. Olaf Amundson, Mr. Chas. Peterson, Mrs. Frank Seil and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Peterson and daughter, Janice, of Superior; Mrs. Gust Johnson, Miss Dorothy Johnson and many others from Duluth.
