Funeral services were conducted at Center City yesterday afternoon for Anna Kristina Carlson well known resident of the Shafer community since 1884 who passed away Saturday evening after an illness of several months duration at the advanced age of 82 yeawrs. The rites were opened at the Chisago LAke Lutheran Church at 2 pm Rev Oscar Sandahl officiating. Burial took place at the Chisago Lake Cemetary and pallbearers were Emil Grandstrandm Algot Carlson Winfred Nelson, fred Rydin, Albert Olson and Oscar Moouist.
A tumor which had brought suffering especially during the lastn 5 months caused the death of the aged resident last Saturday, at the home of her niece Mrs Lina Thorander, where she had lived for many years. She first became ill in October of last year and since the first of this year she had been confined to bed. Because of her advanced age an operation was held unadvisable, and it also against her wishes. She continued to fail in health and strength and finally succumbed shortly before 8pm Saturday. Anna Kristina Carlson was born in Furby, Smaland, Sweden on March 31, 1844 and came to america with her sister to America in 1871. They first came to Chicago and later traveled to Stillwater, then moved to Minneapolis where they mde their home with their sister and brother in law Mr and Mrs Charles Sandberg. Some time later her sister passed away and in 1884 the decesed arrived in Shafer with the Sandberg family to make her home there. Since the death of Mr Sandberg in 1914 she has resided with Mrs Lina Thorsander.

Anna Carlson joined the Augustana Lutheran Church in Minneapolis and upon here arrival in this community became a member of the Chisago Lake Lutheran Church. she remained a member all her life.
Surviving are one sister in Minneapolis, Mrs Mary Peterson, Four nephews and Four Nieces. She has not other brothers and sisters living, but leaves a large circle of friends in the Shafer community united in extending sympathy to the bereaved.May 20, 1926 Chisago County Press
