DAVENPORT - Virginia "Ginia" Spencer, 87, of Davenport, passed away on Thursday, September 13, 2012.
Burial in Davenport Memorial Park.
Virginia was born in Davenport to Wilhelm and Amanda Carlson. She graduated from Davenport High School. On July 27, 1943, she was united in marriage to David Spencer. He passed away on November 12, 1999. Virginia worked for many years as a secretary for the Lincoln Electric Company in Moline.
Ginia enjoyed sharing her Swedish heritage with her family. She always prepared Christmas Eve dinner which included lutefisk, lingonberries and rice pudding. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed making crafts. Ginia had a remarkable "green thumb" with plants and loved animals of all kinds. Her family was always the center of her universe. She loved spending time with her daughter, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Survivors include her daughter, Bambi Mitchell of Davenport; grandsons, Bret (Sharon Dyrkacz) Mitchell of Romeoville, Illinois, and Bron (Kristan) Mitchell of Davenport; twin great-grandsons, Aron and Cole Mitchell of Davenport; a sister, Barbara Hansen of Bloomington, Minnesota; a brother, Allan Carlson of Rock Island; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
