Visitation is 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. today at the mortuary. Mrs. Carlson died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2001, unexpectedly at her residence in Vanzant. Sharlene Dobbs was born Feb. 18, 1946, in Drury, Mo., to Blayne and Donna (Shelton) Dobbs. She married Sam Carlson on July 9, 1962, in Davenport. Survivors include her husband, Sam Sr.; sons and daughters-in-law, Sam Jr. and Pam, and Timothy and fiancee, Amy Tucker, all of Buffalo; daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy and Gary Dittmer, Hannibal, Mo., Ronda and Jeff Coonts and Maria and Tom Caudle, both of Buffalo; 12 grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty Alsup, Davenport, Beverly and Jim Tucker, Kimberling City, Mo., Jean and Larry Sprague, Drury, Mo., and Shirley Lillenthal, Springfield, Mo.; a brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Lucy Dobbs, Mountain Grove, Mo.; and her mother, Donna Dobbs, Mountain Grove. She was preceded in death by her father, Blayne Dobbs. Sharlene was never the selfish type. She always had a kind word for anyone that came in contact with her. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She always would find a way to keep everybody happy and try to keep the family as close as possible. She has touched so many of our lives in so many ways that it is so hard to let her go. We all love her and she will be missed so much. Whenever you need her she was always there, If just to say I love you or I care. She always would give and never take And let you know if you were making a mistake She was a mother, grandmother, sister, and friend And always had a helpful ear to lend Where do we turn now for our guidance you ask And who is going to take on this task. Just look to the heavens and she will be there Listening for you to guide you through your despair. We feel so lost that she is gone now But just put your head down and bow Thank you dear Lord that she was part of your life Whether it be friend, mother, sister, or wife. Her memories now we have to embrace And remember her beautiful face She will always be with us in so many ways And in our hearts her memories stay.
