Funeral services were held September 24, 1973 at St Peter Lutheran Church for Lester Carlson, 80, who died at his home in Grant Township the evening of September 20, 1973, after being in failing health for some time. Burial was in Grant Township Cemetery. Casket Bearers were James Rude, David Rude, John Fisher, John Kohele, and Gary Beekmann.
Lester Carlson, son of Frank and Ida Carlson was born May 18, 1913 in Grant Township and lived on the same farm he was raised on. He graduated from Pocahontas High School in 1923 and was married to Hazel Beekmann of Pocahontas on August 27, 1941. They have always engaged in farming. Survivors include widow Hazel, two sons, Larry of Hampton and Lowell of Des Moines, and a sister, Mrs. Jean (Ruby) Kleve of Humboldt. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Eldon J Carlson.
