Carl Elmer Carlman, son of Carl Albin and Emma Carlman, was born at Galva, Kansas, February 21, 1901, but grew up
in Douglass, attended school and graduated here.
On June 19, 1926, he was united in marriage to Gem Francis. To this union were born three children, Beverly June, Dixie Lee and Carl Francis. The family moved to Russell in 1934, Mr. Carlman being employed as field foreman for the Texas Company. He was a member of the Methodist Church in Douglass and was affiliated with the Masonic and Elk bodies and the Eastern Star.
On July 22, 1951, he entered the University of Kansas hospital where, notwithstanding all that loving hands and medical skill could do, on September 1, 1951, he passed into the Spirit Land, age 50 years 6 months and 11 days.
Playing the game of life the honorable way, the work he did so well, and the kind words he spoke will remain a permanent possession of his family and his friends.
He leaves to mourn his passing the wife and children named above, his father, C. A. Carlman, Douglass; one brother, E. L. Carlman, Ozona, Texas; four sisters, Mrs. R. E. Garden, Nickerson; Mrs. W. W. Stewart, Anthony; Mrs. DeLoss Myers, Leon; Mrs. W. E. Allen, Douglass; and many, many friends. His mother passed to her heavenly home on January 7, 1948.
Funeral services were held at Russell Wednesday morning at 10 and the body brought to Douglass for burial in the Douglass Cemetery Wednesday afternoon.
