L. D. Baty married Anna E. Carle on 22 Sept 1881, to this union 13 children were born. Both Lorenzo Baty and Anne E. Carle are buried at Eureka Cemetery, Knoxville, Marion Co., Iowa, Lot 100.

Anna was shot in the mouth by Howard Roland, her son-in-law. She in turn shot Howard with a shotgun and killed him. January 1920.
