Alma Ruth Allison, 86, passed away on January 17, 2011 in Springfield, IL.
She was born in Marrowbone, KY on October 25, 1924 the daughter of Olis Reid and Maudie May (White) Carey.
She married Lawrence Robert Allison on April 3, 1946 in Decatur, IL he preceded her in death on December 23, 1994. Alma is preceded in death by her parents, a sister Iva and her brother in law Bob Brown, a sister in law Thelma Carey and her brother Jim Carey.
She was an Avon Representative in the 60s as well as a homemaker and loved flowers and gardening as well as spending time with friends and family. She was a member of the Irish Grove Presbyterian Church and the Third Presbyterian Church in Springfield.
Alma is survived by her son Robert (wife Lisa) Allison of Springfield, her daughter Donna (husband Bill) Helm of Petersburg, grandchildren Jeffery Allison of St. Louis, MO., James Allison, Robert Allison, Andrew Allison, Amy Allison and April Chepulis all of Springfield, great-grandchildren Madison, Joseph and Elizabeth, siblings John Carey of Rushville, Melvin Carey (wife Doris) of Rushville, Mary Ann (husband Dave) Peterson of Avon, Patsy Ann (husband Roger) Wellenkamp of Beardstown and a sister-in-law Diane (husband the late Jim) Carey of Beardstown. Visitation will be Thursday, January 20, 2011 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at Bisch and Son Funeral Home at 505 E. Allen St. in Springfield, IL. Funeral services will be Friday, January 21, 2011 at 10:00 am at Bisch and Son Funeral Home with Pastor Kathy Swaar officiating, Burial will follow at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia, IL. Memorials may be made to Third Presbyterian Church in Springfield.
