Funeral services for Mildred Cardwell Anderson, 89, of Sweetwater, were held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 5, 2011, at McCoy Chapel of Memories with Doug Crum officiating. Interment followed at Sweetwater Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, June 4, 2011, at McCoy Funeral Home.
Anderson died Friday, June 3, 2011, in Abilene.
She was born Aug. 27, 1921, in Roby, Texas. She married Tom Anderson on Aug. 24, 1940, in Lueders, Texas. Mildred was a beautician for 43 years and had lived in Sweetwater since 1941. She had owned and operated her own beauty shop and partnered with others. She was a member of the Church of Christ and was very active with her church work, her sorority and Weight Watchers. Mildred was a cancer survivor.
Survivors include two sons, Leslie Tom Anderson and wife Margaret of Garland and Ronald Lee Anderson of San Marcos; three grandsons, six great-grandchildren; a brother, Roland Cardwell of Sweetwater; and a sister, Janelle Brown of Midland.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom on Nov. 24, 2008; a sister, Linda Dunlop; and her parents, Leslie and Rachael Cardwell.
Memorial may be made to the American Cancer Society, Fourth and Elm Church of Christ or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
