Mrs. Bertha Cardwell Ayers, age 80, of Millers Creek, widow of Johnnie Fred Ayers, Sr. died Saturday, January 10, 2004 at her home.

Funeral services will be held at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Ayers was born in Wilkes County, May 27, 1923, to Pink and Martha Lou Cardwell Hamby.

Mrs. Ayers is survived by two daughters, four sons, two sisters, 15 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; two great, great grandchildren.
