Lloyd was born June 18, 1918 at the family home place in Pixley Township to John and Ella (Noll) Carder. He married Doris M. Patridge on October 17, 1942 in Louisville and together they have enjoyed 72 years of marriage
Lloyd served in the U.S. Army in Germany during WWII and retired from Laborers Local Union as a laborer also having worked for Pure Oil Company. He was a longtime member of Sailor Springs Christian Church having served as a deacon and elder. Lloyd was known for his hard work ethic and always had a large garden, but quail hunting was foremost in his life.
Lloyd is survived by his wife: Doris Carder of Clay City; four children: Floyd (Peg) Carder of Litchfield, Darrell (Toni) Carder of Clay City, Darlene (John) Nevins of Marshall, IN, and Dennis (Denise) Carder of Oblong; seven grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law: Norma Carder and four siblings: Melva Stanley, Muriel Stanley, Larry Carder, and Hallie Carder.
A funeral service for Lloyd Carder will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 8, 2014 at Sailor Springs Christian Church.
Interment will follow in Dillman Cemetery, Sailor Springs, with military honors.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora.
The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Clay County Hospice and envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
