Anestacio Adam Carabajal, 29, of Garden City, died Sunday, July 19, 2009, at Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita.
He was born Oct. 4, 1979, in Fremont, Ohio, to Anestacio and Noelia Garza Carabajal. When he was young, the family moved to Ulysses, where he graduated from Ulysses High School in 1998. While in high school, he participated in wrestling and baseball. After graduating from high school, he moved to Garden City and attended Garden City Community College.
Mr. Carabajal had been a power production technician-drafting employee at Sunflower Electric Power Corp., since Sept. 17, 2001. He was involved in Garden City Recreation Commission sporting events, participating in basketball, softball, flag football, co-ed volleyball and coaching his daughter's soccer team. He enjoyed playing ping-pong, poker, taking vacations, and barbecuing with family and friends, was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan and Ohio State Buckeye fan, and loved to spend time with his wife and children.
On Sept. 3, 2005, he married Jade Hernandez at First Christian Church in Hugoton. She survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Aspyn Carabajal, and a son, Kaven Carabajal, both of the home; his parents, of Ulysses; a brother, Danny Carabajal of Garden City; two sisters, Linda Mendoza of Ulysses, and Sandy Carabajal of Garden City; his grandparents, Rebecca and Alfredo Garza of Ulysses, Ernest Sr. and Lucy Hernandez of Garden City, and Felix and Eloise Trujillo of Hugoton; seven nieces and nephews; and several aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by a sister, Elisa Carabajal; an uncle; his grandparents, Adolfo and Ysidra Garcia; and his great-grandfather, Ysabel Roman.
Funeral was at First Southern Baptist Church in Garden City. Burial was at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City.
