John Capps, of Sallisaw, was killed Saturday night, Dec 19, in an auto-mobile wreck on the highway about 2 miles west of Sallisaw, when a Ford coupe driven by Ted Capps collided with a Ford coach driven by Carl Flowers. Capps lived three hours after the wreck.
There were five person in the coupe and John was standing on the running board. The other occupants of this car were not injured. In the coach, driven by Carl Flowers, was also Howard Duncan, who received painful face and head injuries. Flowers was injured about the head.
According to Flowers, the car driven by Ted Capps was on the wrong side of the road and had no lights. He said he tried to turn and avoid hitting the coupe, but was unable to do so. His car was going west, and the Capps car was coming east. Both cars were completely wrecked.
The funeral service was held Monday afternoon at 2:30, at the Peters cemetery, with the E. L. Moore & Son Undertaking Company in charge. The sermon was by Rev. W. E. Rockett, pastor of the First Baptist church.
Surviving Mr. Capps are his wife and his mother, Mrs. George Frizzley, and on broher and three sisters. He had no children.
