McMinnville, TN resident and Warren County, TN native James Leo Cantrell, age 94, was born August 17, 1914 and died May 9, 2009 at NHC in McMinnville following a brief illness. A retired farmer and TN Forestry Serviceman, he was the son of the late Lelland and Delia Cantrell. He was married to Nell Lane Cantrell, who preceded him in death. As a child, Leo attended both Berea Church of Christ and New Bybee's Chapel Methodist Church.

He and Nell were part of the New Bybee's Chapel Church family where he taught Sunday School. He was baptized in the Church of Christ.

In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by sister and brother-in-law, Zelma and Verbal Cope; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lackland and Vallie Cantrell and Lavert and Marie Cantrell; niece, Nadell Grissom; great-niece, Rhonda Watts Newby; and great-nephew, Terry Watts.

He is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Linda Faye and Tom Fisher of McMinnville; three grandchildren and spouses, Larisa and Kenneth Parker of Alpharetta, GA, Kristin and Philip Kufeldt of San Jose, CA and Eric Fisher of Austin, TX; five great-grandchildren, Henry, Olivia and Abigail Kufeldt, and James and Susannah Parker; three nieces and spouses, Melba and Arnold Watts and son, Tim of McMinnville, Bobbie and W.O. Whitton and son, Jason of Harrison, TN and Nadean and Jimmy Taylor and daughter, Jan of Smithville, TN and other family members, Paul Grissom and daughter, Gayle Caldwell of McMinnville, Earl Cope of Chattanooga, TN, Wendell Newby and family and Denise and Jaren Watts of McMinnville. Funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at New Bybee's Chapel Methodist Church with David Grissom officiating.

Burial followed at New Bybee's Chapel Cemetery.
